The Secret to Increasing the Lifespan of Your Exhibit
You’ve invested a pretty penny in your trade show exhibit to then find out it was damaged in transit. Sound familiar? If you’re like many companies, your trade show exhibit travels around the country and is packed and unpacked close to 100 times per year. That’s one too many times to risk inexperienced movers damaging your investment and decreasing your exhibits lifespan.
Here are some of the best ways to increase your exhibits lifespan and ensure it’s in one piece when it arrives:
Pack your exhibit properly
One of your best defenses is to pack your display carefully before it’s placed on the truck to be shipped. You may be tired after a long show, but taking the extra time to handle your exhibit with care can make or break your display when you unpack it next time. Pop-up and fabric displays, display lights and banner stands all have their own set of packing instructions. Packing them properly the first time can save you time and money down the road.
Buy a shipping case
Exhibits can be tossed around during shipment and take a beating even in the best circumstances. Protecting your exhibit lifespan with a sturdy shipping case can shield your investment from unwanted breakage. Yes, it’s an added cost but well worth the money to increase your exhibits lifespan.
And, if you’re taking a break from exhibiting, a shipping case can be stored safely. Just be sure it’s stored in a dry, pest-free environment.
Include directions
You’ve taken extreme care in packing your exhibit, so now it’s time to take it one step further and include or email packing instructions, or better yet, a video. Be sure to include a list of all the contents including crates and their respective crate numbers along with a description of their contents.
Take pictures
A picture is worth a thousand words, especially if you find yourself filing an insurance claim for damaged goods. Including a photo of the full inventory in each crate before it’s shipped is great way to be on the same page with your shipper and can help diffuse any damages or discrepancies.
